3 exercises to lose weight that work better than jumping jacks

If you are tired of doing jumping jacks or burpees, try these 3 exercises for an effective way to lose weight at home.

Jumping jacks. This classic exercise is a great way to activate just about every muscle in your body, including your heart. Take these moves to the next level with modifications designed by CosmoBody fitness trainer Astrid McGuire to combat boredom.

Perform 20 repetitions of each exercise, then move on to the next without resting. For a complete cardio workout, repeat the set two to four more times, resting 30 to 60 seconds between sets.

1. Rotational Jacks with Floor Tap

What they work: Your core, quads, hamstrings, butt, and back

– Stand upright with feet together.

– Jump up while keeping your feet shoulder width apart.

– Immediately squat down and turn to the left so that your right hand touches the floor and your left hand reaches straight up to the sky.

– Jump up to the starting position.

– Repeat the jump squat, this time with the right hand pointing to the sky and the left hand touching the floor.

– Return to starting position to complete one set.

– Switch sides and repeat.

2. Floor jack splits

What they do: Your upper and lower abs, chest, and quads

– Lie on your back on the floor, hands clasped above your head, legs extended close together.

– Squeeze your abs, bring your hands between your legs, lift your torso and legs, open your legs to the sides to form a V-shape.

– When sitting up, move your hands through the V between your legs.

– Slowly lower your body, arms and legs to the starting position in a controlled manner, not touching the floor completely. This is a practice session.

– Repeat the exercise.

3. Plank Jacks

Assume a high plank position with wrists just below shoulders, legs together and back straight.

– Keeping the 3rd ring as low as possible, jump and bring your legs out to the sides.

– Then jump up and bring your legs together. This is an exercise.

– Continue to practice and repeat.
