Strawberry custard tart: the recipe for a simple and delicious dessert

Strawberry Custard Tart are small, quick and easy desserts to make at home: crispy shortcrust pastry shells filled with custard and strawberries, like those in pastry shops but much cheaper, perfect to serve to your guests as a dessert at the end of a meal or as delicious individual portions at a buffet.

These delicious cakes are easy to make: just bake the shortcrust pastry baskets in the oven, fill them with soft custard and top with fresh sliced strawberries: so irresistible that even children will love them.

To make them light but equally tasty, you can prepare shortcrust pastry without butter to fill with eggless custard . Here’s how to make them.

Ingredients

FOR THE SHORTCRUST PASTRY

  • FLOUR 250 gr
  • BUTTER 150 gr
  • POWDERED SUGAR 100 gr
  • 1 EGG
  • 1 pinch SALT

FOR THE CUSTARD

  • MILK 500ml
  • SUGAR 100 gr
  • YOLKS 2
  • WHIPPING CREAM 30ml
  • BUTTER 15 gr
  • CORN FLOUR 15 gr
  • VANILLA SUGAR 7 gr

How to prepare strawberry and custard tarts

Mix the flour with the icing sugar and salt, then add the diced butter and mix with an electric mixer. Add the egg and continue to mix. Knead with your hands until you get a homogeneous dough, then wrap it in cling film and put it in the freezer for 2 hours.

Split the dough into 20 pieces and form a ball with each piece. Place the balls in the muffin pan and flatten with a spoon. Prick the bottom of each cupcake with a fork and bake in the oven at 170°C for 13-15 minutes until lightly golden.

Meanwhile, prepare the custard: beat the egg yolks with the corn flour and sugar until light, then slowly add the milk, continuing to mix. Pour into a saucepan and cook over low heat for about 5-10 minutes, until the cream has thickened.

Add the vanilla sugar and butter to the cream and mix well. Add the whipping cream and mix for a few minutes.

Hiit workoutTransfer the custard to a piping bag and fill the tarts, then decorate with sliced strawberries. The strawberry custard tarts are ready to enjoy. We garnished them with strawberries but you can choose the fruit you like best

The strawberry cakes with vanilla sauce can be kept for 2 days in the fridge, closed in an airtight container.
